The maintenance method of preform mold (injection mold) needs to be combined with daily operation specifications and periodic maintenance, as follows:
Cavity/core cleaning
After each production, use a special cleaning agent and soft cloth to remove plastic residues and oil stains. Stubborn stains can be cleaned with ultrasonic cleaning.
Avoid using hard tools (such as wire and steel bars) to clean to prevent scratches on the surface.
Runner system cleaning
Regularly use compressed air or a special cleaning rod to clean the main runner, branch runner and gate to prevent uneven injection caused by blockage.
Mold surface cleaning
Wipe the dust and oil stains on the outer surface. After long-term shutdown, spray anti-rust oil or apply butter to prevent rust.
Lubrication operation
Moving parts such as guide pins, ejectors, and sliders should be lubricated at least twice per shift (more frequently in summer). It is recommended to use professional lubricants.
Regularly check whether the guide pins and guide sleeves are deformed or worn, and replace damaged parts in time.
Parting surface maintenance
During the production process, regular cleaning of residual plastic on the parting surface should be carried out to avoid overflow or mold damage caused by loose mold closing.
Rust prevention treatment
If the machine is stopped for more than 24 hours, anti-rust oil or mold release agent should be sprayed on the surface of the cavity and core; anti-rust grease is recommended for long-term storage.
In a humid environment, the frequency of rust prevention should be increased to prevent water vapor from corroding the mold cavity.
Storage environment
The mold should be placed in a dry, cool, dust-free place and stored in a closed state to prevent accidental damage.
Daily inspection
Confirm whether the mold fixing screws and clamps are loose, and check whether the ejection mechanism and slider movement are smooth.
Record whether the product defects are related to the mold (such as scratches, dimensional deviation).
Quarterly inspection
Re-check the anti-rust effect of molds that have been idle for more than 2 months, and supplement the anti-rust treatment if necessary.
Resume management
Establish a mold resume card to record usage, maintenance history and molding parameters to facilitate tracking of maintenance needs.
Reasonable process settings
Avoid excessive clamping force, injection pressure or mold temperature to prevent excessive wear of the mold.
Shutdown operation
Temporary shutdown requires closing the mold to prevent cavity exposure; when re-activating, it is necessary to thoroughly degrease to avoid surface defects of the product.
Rust treatment
Minor rust is polished with a grinder and then coated with anti-rust oil; severe rust needs to be repaired by sandblasting.
Waterway blockage
Regularly clean the cooling water channel and replace the sealing ring to ensure cooling efficiency.
Through the above systematic maintenance, the mold life can be significantly extended, production efficiency and product yield can be guaranteed.
